What Are You Reading Right Now?

Last week, on our daily trail walk, I let Maggie off her leash as I popped in my airpods. There’s this perfect trail loop located near our house that not many people know about, and right smack in the middle is a beautiful wide open grassy area. She loves when I let her off the leash to run around (and I love it too because I usually get to grip a cup of coffee). So when I tucked in my airpods after unlatching the leash, I pressed play on a new podcast. It was an episode with Rachel Hollis and Matthew McConaughey, discussing his new book titled Greenlights.
I listened to every word of that 56 minute podcast. They juggled many topics from living in this quarantine, to quotes he’s both documented and cultivated throughout the years. It’s truly an amazing episode chalked up with grounding life advice, and small hints of what McConaughey defines as: Greenlights
. I immediately bought the book.
First thing’s first, it is not a traditional biography, which some may assume from first glance. Instead, McConaughey states exactly what he intended this book to be right on the first page. “This is an approach book. I am here to share stories, insights, and philosophies that can be objectively understood, and if you choose, subjectively adopted, by either changing your reality, or changing how you see it.”

And let me tell you, this book is everything more. Intrigued, I snuck up to bed early last night so I could get in a few extra pages. So far, it’s fascinating, exhilarating, funny, emotional, and everything else you want in a good read. There is no putting it down! Here’s another one of my favorite quotes thus far…
“We cannot fully appreciate the light without the shadows. We have to be thrown off balance to find our footing. It’s better to jump than fall. And here I am. Greenlight.” –Matthew McConaughey
So, what are you reading right now? I thought I would share in case anyone is interested in a new one… Enjoy!
