Making My Morning Smoothie
I’m a stickler for my mornings- wake up, exercise, get ready, make my smoothie, and jump start the day. It’s what I’ve done forever, or basically, since I received my Vitamix for Christmas a few years prior. I love kick starting my day by making a morning smoothie first thing after a workout. Whether it’s for the satisfaction of knowing I’m getting my greens in early, or the boost of energy I feel after drinking one, it’s definitely a game changer.
Since Kelly LeVeque’s fab four philosophy took over the world, I knew this combination was something I needed to adapt for myself. For those of you that don’t know, the fab four is a combination of protein, fats, fiber, and greens. Each component balances the other and is essential to curbing sugar cravings while keeping you full all morning long. If I’m not having a smoothie, I still try to follow those four specific elements for a different breakfast, so I can continue to feel my best.
Smoothies are also a great way to sneak in some collagen first thing in the morning. When taking on a regular basis, I’ve seen dramatic improvements in muscle recovery, and my hair/ nails grow like crazy. Primal Kitchen, Vital Proteins, and Bulletproof, are the three brands I swear by for the best tasting (and most effective) collagen.

This one is essential to me. Feel free to skip it if you feel full enough with the fats. I use this for hair, skin, nails, joints, muscle recovery, and also as my protein. The vanilla adds a nice subtle flavor but there are also unflavored versions available- whatever suits your taste!
For the liquid base, and also a nice creamy texture in the smoothie. This brand is a great shelf stable one without any weird ingredients. A couple others I love:
I load my smoothies with healthy fats. Without them, I remain hungry after any meal. I say two tablespoons in the video, but I may go a little overboard… Plus I’m not much of a “measurer” anyways (or calorie counter), so set the worries aside and go for the extra amount!
