Friday Five (Thanksgiving Edition!)
Welcome to another Friday Five… this time around it’s all about Thanksgiving!
Considering the holiday is now less than a week away, there will be a lot of preparing and planning before the big day. This will be my second time spending Thanksgiving with my husband’s family in Kansas and I can’t wait to spend a week away with everyone!
It’s a little tradition now that Sam’s grandma and I make the pies beforehand so we can help with the rest of the cooking on Thanksgiving day. We’ve been planning together over the phone- which ingredients for what pie, homemade or store-bought crust, and what type of apples to buy ahead of time. It truly makes for the best memories being in the kitchen together and I love being a part of the process. Plus you can’t really keep me out of the kitchen these days…. I think I’m pretty much there permanently.
Another tradition that both my family and my husband’s family carry out every holiday is card games. I’ll be missing out on the yearly “nuts” game with my family this year (if you know what nuts is PLEASE let me know in the comments- I’ve never met anyone else that knows this game!) But we’ll still be playing plenty of “31” with my husband’s family. The games get very competitive.
What are some of your family’s Thanksgiving traditions? I love hearing how other people celebrate their holiday together…
