Behind the Scenes with My New Clean Beauty Basics

I will say that a little teeny tiny perk of staying home right now is having the luxury of two things. 1: Setting an alarm but not sticking to it. 2: Letting yourself have some time to actually follow a skincare routine. Anyone else feel this way? Maybe it’s just me (and the help of influences online), but I’ve been swapping old products for some new clean beauty basics while home. This list is kind of a random mixture of products that I’ve ordered over the past month or two (tested before I wanted to share) and have found fantastic results in..
I’ve expressed before on here that I will and always will believe that less is more. When it comes to beauty, makeup, or hair, I’ve always just kind of, well, “winged it.” Following in my mom’s footsteps, and trying random new products here and there.. Contouring? Yeah, not my thing. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, it’s just that I’ve never seen the need (or had the patience) to go above and beyond. I keep my makeup super simple, a little on the eyes, and around the cheeks. My hair is usually thrown into a ponytail most days, or I’ll curl it in to soft waves. Skincare is one that’s grown over time, but I’ve always stuck to the basics yet necessities.

I love the thrill of finding a brand that follows these similar values of mine. Lightweight, easy to apply, and makes me feel truly like myself.
All of these products have done that and more, which is why I want to share them with you today. Scroll on to see the full list and get behind the scenes of six new clean beauty basics I’m adding to my entourage!

Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation
Their lightweight serum has just the right amount of coverage for my skin- with a minimal and natural appearance which I love. I’ve never been a big fan of liquid foundations until this one. To be honest, I’m sort of embarrassed to admit that I haven’t even worn one in probably 3-4 years. I was constantly trying to find one with cleaner ingredients and a lighter feel, but everything I found fell short in both of those categories. I bit the bullet, ordered Ilia’s, and can proudly say I’m never looking back!

Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist
Part of my skincare routine morning and night is using some type of toner on my skin. I’ve always loved Cocokind’s Raspberry Vinegar Toner, but wanted to switch it up with something a little less, acidic. Juice Beauty’s Hydrating Mist
fell right into that category. A few spritzes morning + night, as well as throughout the day (on a makeup free face) is all I need. The smell is probably my favorite part, but I’m also obsessed with the glowy appearance it leaves on my skin. I’ve even used it after being in the sun (when Seattle actually had 80 degree weather) and it was the perfect pick me up after a day of exposure!

Native Deodorant
Okay, to be transparent, natural deodorant took me a while to get on board. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried natural (affordable) deodorant and all expectations fell short. It’s been a JOURNEY trying to find one that doesn’t make me smell more like B.O. than I would if I didn’t have any on at all. NOW, I can say that Native’s deo is the best thing that’s hit my doorstep since sliced bread! Kidding, but trust me when I tell you, I love it that much. They have so many scents to choose from, but the coconut vanilla
is a personal favorite. My sister borrowed some one day and told me that she could still smell the coconut three days later! It’s truly amazing y’all.

Ilia Clean Line Liquid Liner
Back to Ilia, because we all know how it feels to find a product that actually excites us (and then want to order everything in sight). That was basically me scrolling through Ilia’s website after trying out their products. Not only did they just get named the best clean mascara in Allure’s Readers’ Choice Awards, but their clean liner is something to celebrate also. It’s so simple to use, with a fine tip to go bold or create a barely there look. The line stays clean all day, so I know even when I’m cutting those onions it’s not going to run wild!

Cocokind Vitamin C Serum
After reading all of the benefits that Vitamin C has on our skin and in our daily beauty regimen, I knew it was time to get on board. This article from Allure, states that Vitamin C “aids in your skin’s natural regeneration process, which helps your body repair damaged skin cells.” Crazy important! Since I started using Cocokind’s Vitamin C Serum– I’ve noticed a big difference in my skin’s overall redness/ dullness. It’s so refreshing adding a few drops to my face (again, morning and night) right after cleansing. My redness has faded, and the overall appearance is much brighter than before. This may sound like a product you can skip over, but since Cocokind offers such accessible/ affordable products, I find it’s totally worth it!

Cocokind All Over Oil Golden Elixir
Does anyone else share the same long lasting love of Cocokind as me? I can’t get enough of their ever-evolving company. Not to mention, their high standards to produce effective, accessible, and affordable products. I love clean beauty, but sometimes don’t love the price tag that comes with it. Insert: COCOKIND. I picked up a bottle of this golden elixir
at my local whole foods a few weeks back, and once again fell in love. It’s full of antioxidants that moisturize and leave your skin (or hair!) extremely nourished. My go-to moisturizer right now post-cleansing.
