An Itty Bitty Baby Bump

Over the weekend Sam and I shared some exciting news. If you can’t tell by the title… we are having a BABY! A little, itty bitty, real-life human being. Now that I’ve reached 13 weeks (and have two appointments down) we thought it was the perfect time to share. Last week at our second appointment, the tech rubbed warm gel over my tiny bump and we were able to see the little one rustling around in there. He/she was so active we couldn’t believe it- and they went from a little gummy to the size of lemon in just 4 weeks!
We’ve been smiling ear-to-ear since the day we found out. (It was on my birthday!) Plotting the nursery, baby gear, figuring out the right nutrition for pregnancy, etc. Sam is very excited to pick out some high-tech gadgets here soon- and he insists on a Bugaboo stroller
(don’t ask me how he knows).
Also a big thank you to everyone who has congratuled us thus far- we are truly feeling all of the love! Sam and I both knew after we got married that we wanted to start a family right away, but it was indeed a longer journey than anticipated. Once we picked up that positive stick, our reactions were not as expected. Instead we just stared at each other for a couple days repeating “do you think it’s right?!” (uh, yeah, it took 5 positive sticks later and bloodwork for it to actually sink in). Now we are just praying for a smooth and healthy pregnancy from here on out. And to top it all off- my sister just announced they’re pregnancy as well! It’s a very happy holiday season around here..

So to wrap things up, I thought I’d share a few of my experiences thus far.. At first the nausea hit pretty hard (around 7-8 weeks) then settled down around 10. My cravings were wild those two weeks and I was really just trying to get by. Lately I’ve been feeling back to normal, but a couple things I’ve had the most appetite for are:
- Tacos
- Anything citrus (mainly oranges)
- Pasta
- Fresh salmon
I’ve had the least appetite for:
- Chocolate (that was shocking!)
- Red meat
Also, the baby bump is starting to pop bit by bit- and I’ve been slowing my workouts a tad. Here’s what my routine has mainly consisted of:
- Barre classes (on the Alo Moves app)
- Jogging
- Yoga, deep stretching
- Cycling classes with the Peloton app

Let me know if you are curious about anything else in my journey so far, I’m eager to share! I can’t wait to express more in these next 6 months with all of you. (P.S. any/ all advice or experiences are completely welcome and deeply appreciated). Thanks for reading- Happy Holidays everyone!
